Welcome, Brother Rua!

Newly initiated Bro. Rua Içmeli after receiving the Entered Apprentice (1st) degree.

We had the pleasure last night of initiating another new Brother into our Lodge, Bro. Rua Içmeli.

Rua is originally from Türkiye, where he had a successful career in banking, and later sales and marketing. Since his move to Montreal he has focussed on work as an entrepreneur, with planning in the works for a daycare project he is developing with his wife. He was motivated to join our Lodge because of his commitment to learning, personal growth, and making a positive contribution to his community.

Welcome, Rua!

A message from our Worshipful Master

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to St. Andrews Lodge №53, on behalf of all our Brethren.

Our Lodge is built upon more than 150 years of tradition, reflection, and shared purpose, forming a strong foundation for meaningful Masonic work.

We strive to embody the core values of Freemasonry: Brotherly Love, tolerance, integrity, and respect for freedom of conscience.

St. Andrews Lodge distinguishes itself through its proud commitment to a strict and uncompromising ritual, which we firmly believe fosters unity, discipline, and strong fraternal bonds among its members.

Above all, St. Andrews Lodge №53 is a place of fellowship — a space where Brethren of diverse origins and languages — Canadian, English, Irish, Italian, Cuban, Greek, Turkish, Brazilian to name but a few — come together as one and share a common passion for self-improvement and personal growth.

May our work continue to be carried out with enthusiasm and humility, in the enduring spirit of Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty that guides our Craft.

Worshipful Brother Alexandre Limoges

Congratulations, Colin!

Colin Abbott receives his 50-year jewel from Ronald Baylis.

Back in April we had the pleasure of congratulating VWB Colin Abbott, a former Worshipful Master of St Andrew’s №53, on his 50th anniversary as a member of our Lodge.

To mark the significance of this occasion, our WB Ronald Baylis, another former Worshipful Master of our Lodge, presented Colin with a 50-year jewel at his home.

We congratulate Colin for reaching this milestone, and take this opportunity to thank him for his long-standing support for St Andrew’s №53. Congratulations, Colin!

Welcome, Brother Bugra!

Newly initiated Bro. Bugra (James) Abdullahoglu after receiving the Entered Apprentice (1st) degree.

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of welcoming our newest Brother into the masonic family, when we initiated Bro. Bugra (James) Abdullahoglu as an Entered Apprentice.

A dedicated serial entrepreneur and founder of a digital consultancy firm based in Montreal, Bro. Abdullahoglu brings with him a wealth of experience in innovation, leadership, and community-building. Originally from Turkiye, he has spent the past several years contributing to the tech and creative industries in Canada, with a deep commitment to personal growth and the values of integrity, service, and lifelong learning that align closely with the principles of Freemasonry.

Welcome, Bro. Bugra!

Visit to Golden Rule Lodge

Since 1857, Freemasons from Golden Rule Lodge №5 have gathered once a year on Owls Head mountain in the Eastern Townships to raise one of their number to the third degree of a Master Mason (the postcard on the left shows masons attending the ritual in around 1915). This happens in a natural amphitheatre, accessible on foot through a opening between two rocks, and is believed to be the only open-air lodge.

An open invitation is extended to members of all other Lodges, and for this year’s raising Master Masons from St Andrews №53 turned out in large numbers to enjoy the extraordinary views and special atmosphere of this special event.

Visitation between lodges is an important way for Masons to develop their understanding of the lessons taught in our rituals, and to meet other masons and expand our social network.

If you would like to know more about Freemasonry in Quebec or about our Lodge, or discuss whether joining might be right for you, we’d like to hear from you! A first step is to fill in this short form.
